Next Friday in the Church’s calendar is designated as an “Ember Day”.

These special days mark the beginning of a new season of the year.  We will be at the beginning of the new season of Autumn.

Traditionally an Ember Day is an occasion to give thanks to God for good crops, good weather and a fruitful season.

The word “Ember” is derived from the Latin phrase “Quatuor Tempora” meaning “The four seasons”.

Next Friday is a day to give thanks by special prayers.
