Next week-end on Father’s Day at our Masses we are asked to remember those older men who served us as Parish Priests who are now retired because of frailty or ill health (the retired “Fathers”). This special appeal is a way to honour those old priests who spent their lives ministering to us at Mass, baptising us, witnessing our Marriages and anointing us in times of sickness. It is an appeal that enables these old fellows, most of whom have no families, to live with dignity.
