The feast day of St Camillus will be celebrated next Thursday. He was a soldier who, while recovering from a war injury, was evicted from hospital for bad behaviour. He was then influenced by the Capuchin friars to return to Giacomo hospital, not as a patient but as a carer of the sick and dying. He later gathered together a group of people, motivated by charity, to attend to the sick and dying. Hence, St Camillus became the patron saint of nurses. He died in 1614.
