This coming Tuesday is the Feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus in the presence of his apostles Peter, James and John.

It marks the occasion when the apostles began to realise that Jesus would suffer and die in reparation for the sins of humanity. It is significant that this great feast falls on 6th August. On that date, 74 years ago the atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The death toll rose to a million citizens. It says something important about the sins of humanity and even more about the mercy and forgiveness of God.
