Most people long for the times when there will be no wars, no violence, no injustice, and no social distinctions.

In Today’s Gospel story, St Luke reports some words, attributed to Jesus himself, which proclaim that such times will arrive when people love friends and enemies alike; when people are equally generous to both deserving and underserving people, when debts are forgotten in relation to worthy and unworthy people.

Of course it is difficult to be generous to people we seriously dislike, or to people who are judged to be undeserving of kindness or unworthy of forgiveness.

Nevertheless, St Luke’s Gospel today is revealing that if we really understood the true nature of God, we would realise that unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness is possible. It is worth reflecting upon!
